Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a technique of inserting and manipulating tiny needles into specific points on the body. It helps to nourish the qi of body and helps to remove stagnant energies. "Qi" (pronounced 'Chee') can be defined as the universal life energy present in every living creature. This energy circulates throughout the body along specific pathways that are called meridians. As long as this energy flows freely throughout the meridians, health is maintained, but once the flow of energy is blocked, the system is disrupted and pain and illness occur.

At Whole Family Wellness Center, we use acupuncture (with or without needles for children) at each visit. Acupuncture is relaxing and rejuvenating, all while being used to help correct any imbalances one may be experiencing in his or her body. Acupuncture is a gentle, yet incredibly effective way to help heal the body.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

Many people express concern about sensitivity to needles, and will even avoid such treatments because of concern that it may hurt. This is very common, and almost every patient experiences acupuncture for the first time more easily than they thought they ever could. The needles are about the size of a piece of coarse hair, and have very little sensation while being inserted, most people find it quite comfortable.

Acupuncture can and often does help to give a new and wonderful experience to the idea of needles, by feeling balance gently restored to a person’s system in a relaxed atmosphere. Patients usually report feeling relaxed and a great sense of euphoria during and after their treatments, sometimes lasting for days.
